This time, when visiting the former site of the old university in Yangpu, Shanghai, I deliberately avoided the crowded internet famous hotel on the Bund and chose Lantian Hotel Shanghai. After staying there, I realized that this old hotel, which has been rooted in Yangpu for many years, has a rare sense of down-to-earth living experience in eastern Shanghai, and has become the most comfortable destination for my trip to Shanghai.
From Wujiaochang Station of Line 10, you can walk for more than 800 meters. The old wutong Road of Fudan is full of unique scholarly atmosphere of Yangpu. As soon as I got to the door of the hotel, the doorman quickly stepped forward to help open the glass door, took the large document bag filled with school history materials in my hand, introduced Huangxing Park beside the hotel with a smile, and said that it was very comfortable to walk in the evening to see the shadow of wutong. At the moment of pushing open the lobby, there was no excessive luxury stacking. The stable and atmospheric Shanghai style decoration carried the elegance of an old Shanghai hotel, and the exhaustion of rushing all the way on the high-speed railway dissipated in one fell swoop.
When I checked in, the local Shanghai aunt at the front desk heard that I was visiting the old school site, and actively helped me upgrade the wutong landscape room on the high floor. She also specially handed me a handwritten note, which marked the walking routes of several old universities nearby, and even the address of the old Shanghai fried chicken restaurant in Wujiaochang that has opened for many years. The moment I opened the door, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious and bright. The french window were facing the wutong on the street. The wind blew out the broken gold all over the window, and even the air was filled with a faint fragrance of osmanthus fragrans. The bedding was fluffy and soft, and after wandering around the old school site all day, my legs were sore. After lying down for a while, the soreness all over my body dissipated.
The most unforgettable thing is the taste of Shanghai style in the hotel. The next morning, I went to have a buffet breakfast. There are all local characteristics, such as raw frying, Potsticker, and now boiled salty soybean milk. The steamed cake is sweet but not greasy, and even the non sweet tourists like me ate two pieces of it. I don't want to go out at night, so we order a special Braised pork belly in brown sauce in our restaurant downstairs. The thick oil and red sauce melt in the mouth, and the wine and grass are delicious. You don't have to go to the old city to queue up to get the authentic flavor of our restaurant.
Living here for a few days, traveling and having fun are particularly worry free. It takes only ten minutes to walk to Huangxing Park. After the meeting, take a leisurely stroll and watch Uncle Shanghai fishing. There is no need to rush to scenic spots, and the relaxation is full. It takes fifteen minutes by car to reach the Bund, and after visiting the International Architecture Exhibition Group, you can also go to Lujiazui to see the night view. The daily schedule is full, but you won't waste energy on the road at all. In my leisure time, I went to the hotel's indoor heated swimming pool, where the water was clean and there were not many people. After swimming, I went to the nearby small garden to enjoy the evening breeze and could see the lights of the pentagonal arena slowly lighting up in the distance. Before leaving, I accidentally left my old school commemorative postcard in my room. After checking out, I realized that I was trying it out and called the front desk. That afternoon, I received a package from the hotel that didn't even cover the shipping cost.
Throughout the entire stay, there were no deliberate internet celebrity gimmicks, but the convenience of Yangpu's core area was perfectly integrated with the reliability of old hotels. Compared to the fast-paced internet famous hotels around the Bund, the quietness and comfort of Lantian Hotel Shanghai actually gave me a rare sense of relaxation amidst my busy visiting schedule.
